would be、will be还是be，取决于语气

【问】

I think escaping the system would be suicide. 我认为逃离这个体制会是自杀。

I think是现在时，后面的从句为什么用would be而不是will be呢？是否也能用will be？

【答】

之所以用would be而不是will be，是为了使语气更弱一些，表达出“更不确定”的意思，这是虚拟语气，并非真的表达“过去将来”。 

实际上，以下三种表达方式在语法上都是正确的，但语气不同：从1到3越来越肯定，到第3句完全就是在陈述事实了，所以是陈述语气了。

1. I think escaping the system would be suicide.
2. I think escaping the system will be suicide.
3. I think escaping the system is suicide.
