都是“组成”，consist、compose、comprise怎么区分？

consist、compose、comprise都能表达“组成”，其实有时候译作“组成”很牵强，译作“包括”则通顺得多，所以它们完整的词义是“组成；包括”。

用法区别如下：

1、compose通常只用be composed of，“由……组成，包括”。

例：Muscle is composed of different types of protein. 肌肉由不同类型的蛋白质组成。

2、consist用consist of，“由……组成，包括”，没有被动形式。

例：Their diet only consisted of fruit and seeds. 他们的饮食只包括水果和种子。

3、comprise和be comprised of都可以表达“由……组成，包括”。

例：The USA comprises 50 states. =The USA is comprises of 50 states. 美国包括50个州/美国由50个州组成。
